Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they provide a different prompt and book bloggers, like me, share top ten lists.
This week is a pick-your-own topic week and since I’ve been making list up on list of books I hope to find at Book Expo America (BEA) next week, I thought I would share ten of them with you.
Side note: I have heard that some of these books will more than likely be available via galley-drops at BEA, others are just wishful thinking!
It’ll be my first time attending BEA and I’m really hoping that with all the book love flowing at the Javits, I will come home refreshed and ready to pour everything in to this blog again.
The details:
- The Truth According to Us by Annie Barrows {Dial Press: June 9, 2015}: Family secrets spanning decades in small-town West Virginia are unraveled.
- No. Four Imperial Lane by Jonathan Weisman {Twelve: August 4, 2015}: About an American student in the UK during the height of Margaret Thatcher’s reign as Prime Minister. This sounds like a very interesting take on Britain under the Iron Lady’s leadership.
- The Art of Crash Landing by Melissa DeCarlo {Harper: September 28, 2015}: I included this on a past Top Ten Tuesday list – books I recently added to my TBR. I’ve yet to procure a review copy, so hopefully BEA is my chance!
- Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford {St. Martin’s Press: August 18, 2015}: The story of a young Upper East Side woman who to get ahead in her job must convince people she comes from old money. Set in pre-recession New York.
- The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler {St. Martin’s Press: June 23, 2015}: A book about a book, need I say more? Okay then I will…A young librarian receives a mysterious book containing his grandmother’s name, a number of mysterious drownings and a possible curse.
- In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume {Random House: June 2, 2015}: Loosley based on actual events experienced by the author as a child, In the Unlikely Event is a story of loss, hysteria, and planes falling from the sky in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
- Orphan Number Eight by Kim van Alkemade {William Morrow: July 7, 2015}: A debut based on true events, starting in 1919 when Rachel and her brother become orphans. They are soon separated, but as Rachel grows older she yearns to search for her long-lost brother and forget the pain of her years in care.
- A Window Opens by Elisabeth Egan {Simon & Schuster: August 25, 2015}: A young mother trying to juggle many aspects of her life to fulfill her professional destiny.
- Goodhouse by Peyton Marshall {Farrar, Straus, Giroux: July 7, 2015}: Way back in January, I shared a list of 2014 books which I had missed and would love to go back and read. Goodhouse is one of those books, and I hear that it may be featured at BEA!
- Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng {Penguin: June 26, 2014}: Set in 1970’s Ohio, a mixed race family must confront family secrets after a devastating tragedy. Everything I Never Told You was one of last summer’s biggest debuts and I never did add a copy to my shelf.
It looks like you have some great titles on your list – can’t wait to hear more about them! I’m really bummed I can’t go this year, but I know you’re going to have an awesome time!
