Clare Wilson is starting over. She's had it with her marriage to a charming serial cheater. Even her own son thinks she's given his father too many chances. With the support of her sisters, Maggie and Sarah, she's ready to move on. Facing her fortieth birthday, Clare is finally feeling the rush of unadulterated freedom.

But when a near-fatal car accident lands Clare in the hospital, her life takes another detour. While recovering, Clare realizes she has the power to choose her life's path. The wonderful younger police officer who witnessed her crash is over the moon for her. A man from her past stirs up long-buried feelings. Even her ex is pining for her. With enthusiasm and a little envy, her sisters watch her bloom.

Together, the sisters encourage each other to seek what they need to be happy. Along the way they all learn that it's never too late to begin again.

After reading Robyn Carr’s Four Friends last year, I wasn’t quite ready to commit to one the series she has authored but I wanted to read another standalone. So when I received an email a few months ago announcing that Robyn’s 2006 novel Never Too Late was being republished, I jumped at the chance to review it.

Last year I managed to read a ton of beaks in less than 3 days, recently (since October) there have only been 3 books which I devoured that quickly – Before I Go, The Bookseller and The Unraveling of Mercy Louis. And now Never Too Late can join the list, the list of books which have been able to grab my attention so fully that I wanted needed to read the book every moment I had.

That statement alone speaks volumes! And it’s not because I’ve not been enjoying the other books I’ve been reading, with Never Too Late, Carr’s characters immediately grabbed my attention. I became invested in them and had to know what happened. The sisters, Claire, Maggie and Sarah could each have been someone I actually know. Nothing was far-fetched for the sake of a good story, each had their flaws, but the bond they shared was unbreakable.

I think I’ve mentioned on a few occasions that I prefer a book which ends neatly, when all the loose ends are tied up. After turning the last page of Never Too Late, I was satisfied with the ending and it didn’t feel rushed nor forced. It was a natural outcome to all of the questions I had pondered while reading.

Now I want to start on Robyn’s Thunder Point series. So let me just quietly add 9 books to my wish list!
